Dispennett's Apple Orchard Tours
Touring the Orchard is one way the public can educate themselves on how apples are grown, why chemicals are used, and the positive effects the proper handling of the apple trees and the soil has on the apple itself. One of the most common phrases from those on the tour is 'I did not know that'. We accommodate small groups, large ones, and young and old audiences.
All tours are held on Saturday only. Please call early
in the year to reserve a date and be prepared to give
information on the size of the group, age, and the time
constraints, if any. There are a variety of subjects
for the lecture session, there are long and short field
walks, and it all depends on the time you wish to allow.
Tour Length
The short tour last ½ hour. You will see the apple barn, sorting of apples , and the grading process. A short walk to the edge of the orchard and finished off with some tasting of the apples and their toppings.
The long tour last 1-½ hours. You will
experience all of the short tour plus a tour of the
beehives, viewing different apple trees, and how to
pick an apple properly.
Tour Charge
There is a charge of $3.00 per person.. For smaller
groups a $50 minimum for the short tour and $100 for
the long tour. Participants are given an apple treat
with choice of toppings and receive a sack with an apple,
a pencil, and a educational coloring book of what was
experienced on the tour.
Parking
We have a bus parking lot and we can accommodate up to 45 cars with additional over flow parking. Public rest rooms are conveniently located and handicap accessible. Please ask for any special needs ahead of time when setting up the tour. For a map of parking see Orchard layout.
